METEF: appointment in 2020 with a 100% Veronafiere edition
Veronafiere SpA has acquired 100% of the equity of the landmark exhibition in Italy for the aluminium, foundry and innovative metal industries.
Metef – the brand-name of the most important event in Italy dedicated to the world of aluminium, innovative metals and foundries – is now owned 100% by Veronafiere SpA. Veronafiere SpA has acquired the remaining 50% of shares in Mefef Srl following the initial purchase in 2012 from Alfin-Edimet, the historic organisers of this show. The next edition of Metef is now scheduled in 2020.
“The acquisition,” as Maurizio Danese, President of Veronafiere, explained, “strengthens our development project for Metef. The event becomes a fully-owned asset in Veronafiere SpA’s portfolio of products, and as such will benefit alongside other wholly-owned events from investments totalling 23 million euros envisaged in our business plan through to 2020 as well as other potential future partnerships within the supply chain.”
“This operation,” said Giovanni Mantovani, CEO & Director General of Veronafiere, “means we will be able to play an active role and promote, together with important partners such as Amafond, another of the less well-known sectors of excellence in Italian industry. The aluminium and innovative metals sector is worth more than 11 billion euros and will be increasingly strategic in the future, especially for applications in the automotive sector.”
The announcement comes just a few weeks after the end of the 11th edition of Metef, which recorded international growth among more than 11,000 industry operators last 21-24 June. International visitors to Verona from 63 countries accounted for 40% of total, up by 26% over 2014. Nearly 400 companies exhibited at Metef 2017, once again with strong attendance from abroad at 35% of total.
