The Verona Exhibition Centre “turns pink” for the Giro d’Italia
Verona, 30rd January 2019 – Veronafiere also wears the leader’s pink jersey. With just 102 days to go until the start of the Giro d’Italia, the event most eagerly awaited by cycling enthusiasts, the façade of the Office Building in Viale del Lavoro was illuminated like the monuments for all the stages of the race starting on 11 May.
VeronaFiere is a partner of Giro d’Italia this year. The final time trial stage on 2 June will set off from the Exhibition Centre and terminate inside the Arena, the city’s symbolic Roman amphitheatre.
Verona is by no means new to hosting this sporting event, since the “Giro” has already been staged twice over the city’s streets: in 1984 over a route starting off in Soave won by Francesco Moser and in 2010 with an urban route with victory going to Ivan Basso.
This is a first time for Veronafiere – that nevertheless already has a strong bond with the cycling world. In fact, the time trial for the “Giro” in June is the second event in chronological order that VeronaFiere dedicates to this sport in 2019: in February, the appointment with Cosmobike returns to the Exhibition Centre. The Bicycle Festival is scheduled with new dates of 16-17 February.
