Vinitaly 2025: Italian wine gets going again in Verona in response to international challenges
The 57th Vinitaly, the international wine and spirits exhibition scheduled until 9 April at Veronafiere, was inaugurated today. With more than 4,000 exhibitors from every region of Italy in a fully booked exhibition centre, Vinitaly confirms its status as the main promotion and internationalization platform for the Italian wine sector. From business to trends, markets and politics, Vinitaly 2025 firmly states its role as an accelerator for Italian wine around the world, while taking a detailed look into the future beyond geo-economic tensions. In fact, more than 30,000 international operators from 140 countries are expected in Verona – including 3,000 from the United States. An unexpected result that repeats last year’s record.
As Federico Bricolo, President of VeronaFiere, said: “While seeking to ensure ever-increasing value for our exhibitors, we also continue to intensify our networking system by bringing together around Vinitaly all the players involved in various capacities promoting Italian wine. Even in these times of particular uncertainty, we stand alongside institutions to strengthen our position in the United States. This is why, in coming weeks, we will take part in an event hosted by our Embassy in Washington involving members of the US Congress belonging to the Italian-American Committee and the National Italian American Foundation, to promote the excellence and uniqueness of our products, which we definitely want to continue exporting to the US market. This is an important step during the run up to the second edition of Vinitaly.USA in Chicago, scheduled 5-6 October.”
Over and above the United States, internationalisation has always taken a two-way direction from Verona to the world and vice versa. It was consequently the objective of Veronafiere’s incoming plan developed in collaboration with the ICE Trade Agency. In particular, 1,200 top buyers from 71 countries (6 more than in 2024) have been selected, invited and hosted in Verona for Vinitaly 2025. The largest delegations of super operators selected from non-EU areas are headed by the USA and Canada, followed by China, United Kingdom and Brazil, as well as India, Singapore, Japan and South Korea. Germany, Switzerland, Northern Europe and the Balkan area lead the way for Europe.
Beyond business, Vinitaly 2025 will focus on content and new trends: the fair will debut Vinitaly Tourism, a project dedicated to wine tourism with 64 wineries and tour operators from the USA, Spain, Germany and Italy. The event’s program will also include Amphora Revolution, a section dedicated to wines aged in amphora, and space for RAW Wine and NoLo wines (no and low alcohol), at the center of two focuses on technologies and the market, with a view to innovation and responding to new consumption styles.
The inauguration of the 57th Vinitaly was attended not only by President Bricolo but also welcomed the Mayor of Verona, Damiano Tommasi, the President of the Province, Flavio Massimo Pasini, and the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Antonella Sberna, the president of Ceev, Marzia Varvaglione, the president of ICE Trade Agency, Matteo Zoppas, the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani, the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and the President of the Veneto Region.
